Description
Accessible only by boat or ferry, a unique camping experience awaits you on one of four islands within Boston Harbor! This rustic camping trip will require some additional planning. On the islands there are composting toilets only, no showers, no supplies and access to fresh water is only available on Peddocks Island.
Geography:
The Boston Harbor Islands State and National Park includes 34 islands and peninsulas spread over 50 square miles of bays, harbors, and rivers within the greater Boston Harbor basin. The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is one of 11 managing partners and owns and manages more than half of the islands within the park.

Here is a place where you can walk a Civil War-era fort, visit historic lighthouses, explore tidal pools, hike lush trails, camp under the stars, or relax while fishing, picnicking, or swimming - all within reach of downtown Boston. Be sure to participate in Ranger-led activities.
Facilities:
Camping is available on Peddocks Island; and is accessible by private boat or ferry service only. Amenities are limited to composting toilets only, no showers, no supplies and access to fresh water is only available on Peddocks Island.* Campers must bring one gallon of water per person per day.* Please plan to carry it all in and carry it all out. Yurt camping is available on Peddocks Island. Each site has a picnic table and grill. Campfires are not permitted on campsites, but are allowed below the high tide mark.
Spectacle, Georges, Grape, Bumpkin, Lovells and Peddocks Islands can only be accessed by ferry or private boat. Passenger Ferries are located at the Hingham Shipyard in Hingham. Free parking is available in Hingham upon check-in where visitors will receive a placard for display in their vehicles. Resident staff live on the island during the visiting season and provide island supervision, park and campground management.

- Reservations with departure dates outside the 4-month maximum window cannot be changed or canceled until 18 days after the reservation was made.
- If you choose to cancel or change your reservation, a $10 fee will be charged. The reservation transaction fee is non-refundable. Refunds of $5 or less cannot be processed.
- If you leave early, please checkout at the contact station.
- Cancellations made on the day of arrival must be made by calling the campground and will result in the loss of the first night's camping fee plus a $10 cancellation fee.
- If you are unable to arrive on your scheduled arrival date, you must call the campground and let them know. Failure to contact the park by 8 a.m. the morning following your scheduled arrival date may result in your campsite being reassigned to another camper and forfeiture of fees paid.

Private boaters may off-load passengers and equipment at the dock but must anchor off island, out of the channel fairway. Secure anchoring is the sole responsibility of the boat operator. A dinghy is available at the pier for access to anchored vessels.
